The Party Animal PACMA and Greyhounds of the South have been accompanied to the organization World Animal Protection (WAP) and Animals Today the delivery of the signatures of more than 100,000 Dutch calling for an end to hunting with greyhounds in Spain.
Dirk Jan Verdonk, Programmes director of WAP in the Netherlands, believes that the prohibition of hunting with galgos would be an important step in the construction of a “behavior more ethical” in Spain, towards animals. “The citizens of the EU should unite to press the Spanish government to put an end to the suffering of the galgos and other hunting dogs and secure the protection they deserve,” explains Verdonk.
According to PACMA, the signatures collected, not only are calling for an end to these practices, they are also trying to put pressure on the Spanish authorities to strengthen the laws that protect the hunting dogs and to promote education towards responsible ownership of these animals.
Also, from PACMA believe that the solution to “this terrible scourge” is “the prohibition of hunting” thanks to the Law Zero. “In PACMA we work tirelessly to achieve the aim of hunting to avert, each year, millions of victims, and he leaves behind him a trail of suffering and death which is hardly justifiable from the point of view of sustainability and ethics,” says this organization.
