I quickly surveyed the landscape to see if any other coyotes were approaching, then rolled over into the prone position. My hunting partner, Travis Osmond, was sitting beside me glassing the coyote. “What’s the yardage?” I asked. As many of you know, predators don’t stand still to feed like deer or antelope. They’re constantly on the move. Travis started reading yardages: “610, 615, 622.”

The excitement had been building for a couple of months now as the kids were getting ready to go on their first youth hunt. I made all the preparations to try and make this a successful hunt. I talked to a landowner to try and gain access to a ranch that wouldn’t have as much pressure as public ground. I also spent some time out trying to locate coyotes the night before the hunt. Utah State Coyote Calling Championships (Nov 26, 2011)
The Predator Down Team just competed in the Utah State Coyote Calling Championships. It is one of the toughest contests in the Country and draws approximately 50 of the best teams each year.
Dustin Butler and his dad Vaughn Butler tied for third place killing 4 coyotes and brought home fifth place money.
Lync Jones and his dad Rulon Jones killed 2 coyotes and brought home seventh place money.
