Hesse, Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate and the Saarland are planning a cooperation in terms of wolf management.

A common management group to sightings about Wolf, or the behavior of individual animals and activities for the protection of wolves coordinate. “Wolves do not respect country borders, so a good wolf management must have and even across national borders”, so the Hessian environmental Minister Priska Hinz. There are special experts should be trained in Teams, the behavior of eye-catching wolves catching and stations can equip.

This should also be placed in the position to impose as an Ultima Ratio – single wolves, if “this through multiple livestock, cracks cause damage, or to the people especially conspicuous behavior”. However, the killing of a wolf will remain the exception. Also, an Amendment to the Federal hunting law, or the lowering of the protection status of the wolf is not necessary.

The German hunting Association (DJV) and the Landesjagdverband Baden-Württemberg criticize it alone in the southwest of Germany. The Wolf knows no borders, so a Federal approach is necessary. Hunters and farmers need to be involved in the planning.

DJV-Board member Helmut Dammann-Tamke holds the thrust of the 4 Federal States for the bare action and unnecessary anticipation. The Federal government – the coalition agreement between the CDU/CSU and SPD see it – wool recently, a national regulation.
