    Frankfurt: Major Wilhelm Kuhnert exhibition in the SCHIRN Kunsthalle Frankfurt

    24. October opened in the newly renovated Kunsthalle SCHIRN am römerberg in Frankfurt, a major exhibition of the Public, which is largely unknown animal artist Wilhelm Kuhnert (1865 – 1926).

    One of the first European artist, he travelled to areas between 1891 and 1912, the East African wilderness, especially in today’s Tanzania. Numerous drawings, paintings and sketches, which were later elaborated in the Studio it developed further. During his adventurous journeys chased Kuhnert-intensive. The shot was not Wild just to feed the many-headed Safari team, but also as a template for his animal pictures.

    Like no other painter of his time Kuhnert has influenced with his works, the idea of Africa and its nature.

    The SCHIRN presents the first comprehensive retrospective of his life and work. The over 100 objects on display come from private collections and museums in Germany, Holland and the USA. After the exhibition most of the paintings will disappear into the vaults of museums. In this respect, which is up to 27. To learn January 2019, the ongoing exhibition is a unique opportunity for art enthusiasts, hunters and nature lovers, the work of this great animal and hunting painter.
