More than 30,000 people have visited this weekend on the Paseo del Prado in Madrid the Fair of Nature MADbird, confirming thus its status of being the most important event dedicated to the tourism of nature that is celebrated in a big city.
Its director, Manuel Andres-Moreno, considers this figure as “the demonstration of the growing interest of citizens for this type of sustainable tourism that you see in nature a source of interest and enjoyment”. To view the results of this fourth edition, Andres-Moreno has confirmed the organisation of a new call for proposals for the next year “to maintain its utility as a splendid showcase for the work developed by institutions and companies in the world rural and natural spaces”.
The call of madrid has exceeded all expectations of the public and business, gathering this year more than 80 exhibitors. Autonomous communities are developing projects of ornithological tourism as Andalusia, Extremadura, Comunidad Valenciana, Aragón, Cantabria, Asturias or Madrid, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Environment, business projects in the sector of ecotourism and photography in the Sierra North of Madrid, Doñana, Africa, Costa Rica or the island of Fuerteventura, Associations for the defense of nature as SEO/BirdLife, WWF, GREFA, or the Jane Goodall Institute, attracted the attention of the visitors, that complemented its offer with various promotional activities.
Among the most interesting proposals emphasized the observation of bears and iberian wolves, travel by donkey to see the birds by the Park, the possibility to test the latest models of cameras and telescopes. It also developed numerous workshops dedicated to the identification in the field tracks and signs of wild animals, the manufacture of nest boxes or observation of birds and plants.
