The MAPAMA you are going to support the Platform in Defense of the Silvestrismo in their efforts to demonstrate to the European Commission with the unavailability of captive breeding.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment (MAPAMA) and the Platform in Defense of the Silvestrismo agreed, following a meeting last week in Madrid, centering the defense of the silvestrismo based on the foundation technical of existing legal that demonstrates the non-viability of captive breeding for this mode in face of the arguments employed by the European Commission regarding the feasibility of captive breeding that is done in other countries of the European Union.

To do this, during the meeting, representatives of the Platform and delivered to the Secretary of State for the Environment, María García Rodríguez, a new technical report to these effects, which argue the reasons that the captive breeding that takes place in other european nations, usually involving hybridization between species, a measure that would not be possible in Spain. This report is also intended, that is a fact proven scientifically that the hybridization of certain species of birds is a little less convenient for the high mortality rate it causes, in addition to pollute the environment.

In this sense, the Secretary of State for Environment undertook to study the report and give notice of the same to the European Commission, reconfirming the commitment of the MAPAMA to work actively in defence of the Silvestrismo and providing in this way more information for the defence of the dossier of violation to the Commission.

In relation to the proceedings, both parties reiterated their interest to continue collaborating in the defence of record as of the modality, what is valued very positively by the Platform in Defense of the Silvestrismo.
